Where We Serve

Organizations Around the Globe

Since 1926, Marts & Lundy has served thousands of clients, whose annual giving programs range from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars and whose campaigns range from a few million to several billion. As we work toward a more inclusive and equitable world, we have partnered with the MacArthur Foundation and Lever for Change to build relationships with a more diverse range of mission-driven organizations to ensure they have the resources and tools they need to make the world a better place.

Higher Education

Our roots are in higher education. Since 1926, we have served as counsel to colleges and universities through both periods of abundance and of crisis. Our consultants have led philanthropic efforts at institutions whose campaigns ranged from millions to multi-billions – campaigns that have ensured sustainability and transformational growth. When campuses across the world emptied in 2020, the breadth and depth of our experience in higher education equipped us to help our clients lean into the crisis. Together, we’ve crafted new means of donor engagement, redefined metrics for fundraisers and amplified the importance of higher education’s role in helping to solve the world’s most pressing issues. We are here to ensure colleges and universities of all types maximize the philanthropy that will give them sustainable strength.

Healthcare

Healthcare organizations – from academic medical centers to cancer centers, health systems to community hospitals, children’s hospitals to senior adult living communities  –  have taken their place in our collective consciousness as the place where heroes work. While we have served the healthcare sector for decades, the opportunity ahead to connect with grateful patients and visionary donors is of a magnitude not seen before. Marts & Lundy’s Healthcare Practice comprises consultants with deep experience in the sector and every aspect of healthcare philanthropy. They each have the knowledge and expertise necessary to help institutions across the healthcare spectrum tell their story, take their place in history, and engage donors in the drive to shape a future in which healthcare’s heroes have every resource at hand to take care of the world.

Independent Schools

Philanthropy has the potential to be the most consequential component of non-tuition revenues, and the extreme disruption of the pandemic underscores the significance of a strong fundraising program. Our independent school consultants are immersed in this rapidly changing education landscape. As former practitioners and experienced consultants, they saw what was ahead and immediately shaped their counsel to address the critical needs of our school clients: revisiting strategic plans, assessing fundraising capacity and realistic goals, crafting communication plans for parents and alumni, and helping to meaningfully engage donors in the case for support. Times have changed, but our commitment to schools and their unique missions never will.

Arts, Culture & Environment

The fragility of our communities and our world is driving conversations in board rooms and living rooms. Environment and conservation needs have captured philanthropists’ attention as urgent – and so too has the need to sustain arts and cultural institutions’ power to bring people and communities together to solve social issues. Our consultants understand how to match mission with passion so that you can move supporters from transactional exchanges to meaningful and long-lasting engagement. In a times of disruption and crisis, donors have shown their desire to be part of the solution. Our experience with arts, cultural and environmental institutions of all sizes uniquely positions us to provide creative solutions that keep pace with the rapidly growing opportunity to engage generous donors who want to make a difference.

Human Services & Public Benefit

Organizations that seek to have impact across a broad spectrum of critical needs must embrace both proven practices and unconventional solutions. We couple our depth of experience with the ability to work collaboratively in developing new and innovative ways to educate and engage a diverse base of donors. Our clients are solving issues that are complex, long-standing and, in some cases, uncomfortable to acknowledge. And our consultants are committed to raising awareness of the significance of these missions and creating what will become best practices for this growing sector.
