Professional Experience
Doug Stewart is well known as a teacher, consultant, and development leader, and Marts & Lundy is pleased to be able to offer his expertise to our clients. Prior to joining the firm, Doug served as associate vice president for medical development and alumni affairs at Stanford University. As such he was the chief advancement officer for the Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford Hospital & Clinics and part of the leadership team for Stanford’s $4.3 billion comprehensive campaign, The Stanford Challenge. He has also held senior advancement positions at the University of California, San Francisco; UCLA; California Academy of Mathematics and Science; and California State University, Fullerton.
Doug has chaired more than two dozen CASE “Development for Deans” conferences throughout the US and Canada, training thousands of deans and development professionals in the principles and practices of fundraising. He is a member of the Development Leadership Committee of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and is a past chair of the western region of AAMC’s Group on Institutional Advancement.
A classically trained pianist, Doug has served as president of The Sinfonia Foundation and as vice president of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras.
