Charlie joined Marts & Lundy in 1986 after thirteen years in various development positions at Yale University. Over the past 26 years, Charlie has worked with a broad range of schools, colleges and non-profit institutions in the west, focusing primarily on capital campaigns. Past clients include: The University of San Francisco, The San Francisco Opera House Renovation Project, Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy of California, UC Berkeley, the New Main Library in San Francisco, and many independent schools.

He has served the firm as President from 1999 to 2006 and as a member of the Board of Directors of Marts & Lundy.
