Roy joined Marts & Lundy in 1998 with more than 30 years of experience in higher education fund development. Roy served as Associate Director of Development at Washington University in St. Louis, then as Director of Development at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., before joining the University of Michigan in 1976. As the Associate Vice President at Michigan, Roy was responsible for planning, managing and directing the highly successful “Campaign for Michigan” – the first public university campaign with a goal of $1 billion. The campaign concluded in 1997 with $1.4 billion raised.
With Marts & Lundy, Roy has served a wide range of higher education clients in program assessments, as well as campaign planning and guidance. He specializes in assisting public universities with both mature and emerging programs in philanthropy.
Roy has served on a number of leadership forums for CASE, where he also played a key role in developing the higher education award programs, as well as establishing standards for comprehensive campaign counting and reporting. He was a member of the Marts & Lundy Board of Directors from 2000 through 2004 and from 2006 through 2012 was co-chair of Marts & Lundy’s Higher Education Practice Group. He moved to Of Counsel in 2020.
