A Senior Consultant in Strategic Communications, Charlie works across the nonprofit spectrum, helping organizations create clear, compelling messaging that inspires engagement and support.
Charlie works closely with his clients to get to the essence of the organization’s story, particularly around fundraising campaigns. He brings a strategic approach to communication planning and how messages are delivered across platforms, blending analytics and creativity.
Prior to joining Marts & Lundy, Charlie served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations Communications at Vanderbilt University and Vice President for PR & Communications at Colgate University.
Charlie is regularly invited to speak on topics including strategic communications, social media engagement, building a culture of philanthropy and crisis communications. An active public speaker and volunteer, Charlie has co-chaired the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) annual Campaigns Workshop, served on the CASE Commission on Communications and Marketing. He serves on the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Counselors to Higher Education executive committee.
He previously led the News & Information office at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He began his career at ProfNet, a subsidiary of the news service distribution company PR Newswire.
Charlie and his wife Kristen live in Franklin, TN where they are raising their four children. They are both involved in the local community and the family enjoys spending time in the outdoors, from local parks to national parks and beaches.
