Tom brings to his consulting work decades of experience helping institutional leadership define and implement effective philanthropic strategy. He also assists institutions with identification, definition, and strategy on a wide range of ethical and leadership development issues.
Tom returned to Marts & Lundy in 2009 as Of Counsel after a one year professional sabbatical spent living in Paris. He has over 40 years of experience in higher education serving educational institutions as a dean, professor, vice president, trustee, and consultant. Prior to joining Marts & Lundy in 1999 as a senior consultant, he served as Vice President for Institute Relations at the California Institute of Technology. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Case Western Reserve University.
Tom teaches ethics in a doctoral program at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. His teaching interests include social ethics, applied ethics, and ethics and leadership. A member of the Board of Trustees at the Seabury Western Theological Seminary and an Honorary Trustee at Iowa Wesleyan College, he also serves on the Leadership Council at the Harvard Divinity School.
